Children’s and graphic novel writer Georgia Ball appeared by Skype to kids attending the first annual Rockwall ISD Comic Book Fest on Saturday, May 12. Ball told stories about working on licensed projects and broke down storytelling basics. The kids reported to the organizers that they were most excited to hear about Strawberry Shortcake.

The Comic Book Fest was held in Rockwall High School in an event described as an aspiring, small-scale comic book convention.

“We’re very pleased with the turnout, and we hope it shows how successful this event can be,” Meno said, referencing the convention’s uniqueness – the nearest similarly small-scale event she knows of is in Austin. “Our hope for next year is to maybe find sponsors in local businesses who can help us bring even better and more exciting activities and artists for the kids to interact with.”
